A week in Raw

So my good friend and fellow health enthusiast Kristin has inspired me to eat raw with her for a week... or two.  Or who knows how long we can make it.  See she's been on the road for a few months doing baller away / audition rotations and rocking them.  But that also means not necessarily ideal kitchens and food options.  This is also the friend I was training for the marathon with, yet neither of us ran it.  Lame.  Half ironman in the spring???!!!  I developed a stress fracture (fml) and she was just not here basically.  It was a true delight having some companionship on long runs though :)

So for the raw food issue on hand.  Starting with we are also allowing olive oil, vinegars, almond milk, protein powder, and coffee / tea.  ER rotation with shifts around the clock, everyone has a vice.

Keeping it colorful
So I stopped in at Stanley's last night to prepare for my first 4-5 days in fresh produce.  My cabinet is also stocked with raw almonds and my freezer has a few fresh frozen sashimi grade ahi tuna steaks ready for the week.  Yummmmm

pineapple, grapes, crimini mushrooms, spinach

mmmmmmore fruit!

farmstand apples!

Just because we're eating raw to detox a bit should not by any means indicate our workout will be slacking.  I'm about to head to gym to meet my lovely amiga for a 30 minute spin and 30 min "ultimate abs" class followed by a swim before we head off to orientation for our new rotation. Tomorrow I'm thinking some running / rowing / swimming and booty work ;).  Wed:  NO WORK!!! :)  and looking like a 70 degree day.  You better bet there will be a 50+ mile ride going down.  Thurs: gym with K.  Fri: maybe a barre class and a run.

And pre-workout a "green" smoothie!   Frozen banana, protein, almond milk, spinach, and strawberries.  Kale is always a great option too!
